Decorated Australian Soldier Faces War Crime Murder Charges
Australia's most-decorated active soldier, Ben Roberts-Smith, has vowed to fight five war crime murder charges in his initial remarks since being arrested last week. The Victoria Cross holder, released on bail on Friday, rejected every claim against him and said he would use the legal proceedings as an opportunity to "finally" clear his name. Roberts-Smith, 47, is accused of participation in the deaths of defenceless Afghan prisoners between 2009 and 2012, either by killing them directly or instructing his personnel to do so.
